One of the safest and most effective exercise programs available, Pilates comprises hundreds of exercises, which allow workouts to be customized to meet participants' individual needs. The neuromuscular technique tones and lengthens muscles, increases abdominal and back strength, improves posture and body mechanics, reduces joint and lower back stress, balances flexibility with strength, and reduces stress and tension. The smooth, almost dance-like motions, with an emphasis on proper breathing, leave participants feeling refreshed rather than exhausted.






Breakthru Fitness is proud to be an official satelitte studio for John Garey Pilates offering STOTT PILATES® certification courses. As a STOTT PILATES® student, you learn more than just choreography. You gain the knowledge, skill and confidence to develop effective programs for a range of clients - from post-rehabilitation patients to fitness enthusiasts to elite athletes.

Our training and education programs are designed with your experience levels and goals in mind. Courses carefully detail the logic behind each exercise and routine, then reinforce it through observation, practice teaching and instructor feedback.

STOTT PILATES® WORKSHOPS are an excellent way to increase your knowledge of Pilates, regenerate and challenge your clients, and improve your teaching skills. The workshops count toward the STOTT PILATES® continuing education program. Six STOTT PILATES® Continuing Education Credits are required each year to retain your STOTT PILATES® Certificate status.

ACE and AFAA: This course is recognized by ACE and AFAA.

Course Description
Intensive Reformer (IR) - This course teaches you how to design and instruct level 1 (essential and intermediate) reformer workouts in group or personal training settings for a range of clients. While ir may be taken prior to imp, we recommend completing imp first. In addition to the general course objectives, you will learn:

  • Effective use of the reformer to enhance torso stability and strength, peripheral extremity conditioning, joint stability, flexibility, balance and coordination


  • How to develop programs for personal and group classes


  • Essential, intermediate and power workouts


  • Effective communication, visual skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation


  • Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions


  • Theory behind exercise modification development and usage


  • Exercise layering related to effective program design


  • 129 exercises plus multiple modifications

Prerequisites:

  • 3 years (minimum teaching movement or fitness
  • Working knowledge of functional anatomy
  • 30 hours of pilates classes/workouts

Duration:

  • 50 hours of instruction
  • Mon-fri for 3 weeks-4 hours/day max.
    Or 4 weekends-5 hours/day max.
  • Plus:
    • 10 hours observation
    • 40 hours physical review
    • 25 hours practice teaching
